Executive Director - Revised
Job details
Company Description Blackfriars Arts Centre is based in Boston, Lincolnshire. We are a registered charity serving our local community. Based in the remains of a 13 th Century Dominican Friary and a Grade II* listed building our quirky little theatre is a key part of the local Cultural Quarter. As a not-for-profit business we have until recently been running mainly on a workforce of volunteers and trustees who saved the theatre from closure around 16 years ago. Since successfully gaining Arts council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) status in April 2023 we have started our journey to expand our offering into the community and therefore expand on our staffing levels with 12 people now on the payroll. As a community theatre we are operating in an area identified as having a low engagement in culture and the arts. This is now seen as a priority area for improving this, and our charitable objects are to present, promote, organise, provide, manage and produce such plays, dramas, comedies, operas, operettas, burlesques, films, ballets, entertainment and exhibitions whether on any premises of the company, radio or any other broadcasting media or elsewhere as are conducive to the promotion, maintenance, improvement and advancement of education or to the encouragement of the Arts. We already operate a thriving theatre academy for children ages 4 to 19, with nearly 200 attending regularly. The Academy engages with these children in musical theatre, drama, and dance. We offer a diverse array of programming throughout the year including our annual pantomime, operas, ballets, comedy, plays and musicals among others. We aim to support our local amateur societies and community groups by providing affordable access to our facilities for these groups, and as part of our new expansion we would like to increase our engagement with the local Eastern European community in our town as well as those from a more disadvantaged background. Role Description This is a 3 year contract role with the option of extending subject to funding for an Executive Director at BLACKFRIARS ARTS CENTRE LIMITED, located in Boston with flexibility for remote work and part or full time hours. We are open to discussions with people who are looking for either a full or part time position and therefore would consider candidates who feel they can meet some or all of the items listed in the Job Description. Ideally if it is a full time role we would like the successful candidate to be able to work from our venue on a regular basis but we are also open to hybrid working with remote access opportunities. As an Executive Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations and strategic direction of the organization. This includes managing budgets, leading fundraising efforts, and building relationships with stakeholders. You will also be responsible for overseeing the programming and ensuring the organization's goals and mission are met in line with our new Arts Council NPO status . Qualifications
