Glasshouse Supervisor WHO WE ARE: SPL is a leading New Zealand greenhouse specialist, growing capsicums and snack cucumbers, and packing avocados, located in Warkworth. We currently operate 27 hectares of glasshouse and run a capsicum packhouse and avocado packhouse onsite. SPL supplies produce to large domestic and export markets.

THE ROLE: We are seeking a Glasshouse Supervisor to oversee Glasshouse duties on a day-to-day basis. This is an in-glasshouse role where the work is physical and busy. You will support the glasshouse management team with a variety of tasks including:
- Staff supervision, helping to organise delegation of staff and the smooth running of Glasshouse operations.
- Overseeing tasks such as picking and twisting & pruning, guiding team performance to a high level to meet daily targets.
- Ensuring staff are keeping good practices with Glasshouse equipment, reporting into Glasshouse Management and Maintenance teams where necessary.
- Monitoring crop health and communicating with our Glasshouse Technical team.
- Mixing fertilisers and keeping records of growing media moisture levels.
- Maintaining housekeeping and general cleanliness on-site.
- Moving equipment across the site for operational requirements or maintenance.
- Living by our company values in the workplace.
- Upholding high standards for all Health and Safety practices.
- 3+ years of supervisory horticultural experience.
- Current driver license is essential.
- GrowSafe certification is desirable.
- Horticultural qualifications would be advantageous.
- A current forklift license would be helpful but training can be provided.
- Happy to work long hours in the heat and humidity of a glasshouse.
- Comfortable leading with empathy in teams with diverse cultural backgrounds – an understanding of the culture in Kiribati would be advantageous, as would speaking I-Kiribati.
- You will be required to do some weekend work, work some statutory holidays and be flexible with working hours to meet the demands of peak production and work cycles.
- You must be keen to learn, a practical thinker and show initiative.
- Able to lead, train, and supervise staff, including those where English is a second language.
- Well-established team and company with lots of knowledge about the industry, keen to develop its management team
