Te āheinga: The opportunity As a Specialist you will support prospective students by proactively engaging with applicants and our teaching Schools, to optimise selection and enrolment activities and processes to enable Unitec - part of Te Pukenga to achieve enrolments and retention targets. This role requires a flexible working week to meet student needs and the times available. This position requires active student engagement, and a core requirement is to contact applicants telephonically, followed up by other media to ensure high conversion of enrolment and improved student processes and one-on-one student contact as needed. You will be responsible for closely assessing students' documentation to ensure they meet the entry criteria for the programme they have applied for or work with them to find an alternative programme of study or study plan leading towards their eventual career goals. Please refer to the Position Description for further information about the position. You'll have:
- An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
- Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
- You will have highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of people, including applicants, their whānau, academic staff, senior management, support services and external clients.
- Highly developed communication skills. As you'll be the main point of contact during our student's application process, communication is key.
- You will have a minimum of 2 years of experience coming from a customer service background within a tertiary environment and be confident liaising with applicants over the phone.
- Ideally, you would be coming from a student admission or enrolment processing background working with specific schools and processes.
- Used to working in a fast-paced environment have excellent attention to detail and be used to working with multiple stakeholders.
- High degree of proficiency in Office computing applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software such as PowerPoint and email.
