TheOpportunity We arelooking for Landfill Gate Attendant to join our Waste ManagementTeam to provide landfill and gate attendant services at theKununurra Landfill site to ensure the efficient operation of theWaste disposal site. This role is responsible for:

  • Providing high qualitycustomer service to residents, contractors and business ownersat all times (face to face, via phone or in writing) inaccordance with the Shire’s Customer ServiceCharter;
  • Carryout duties in accordance with Department of Water andEnvironmental Regulation (DWER) License Requirements and theShire’s Waste Management Plan;
  • Operateboom gate and/or weighbridge;
  • Keepaccurate computer-based records relating to waste received anddistributing in accordance with policies, organisationaldirectives and procedures;
  • Processcash and EFTPOS payments;
  • Maintainwaste registers;
  • Monitorand inspecting vehicles, checking loads of rubbish forasbestos, oil, tyres, batteries, chemicals and other hazardousgoods and ensuring waste complies with Kununurra Landfilllicense requirements;
  • Directing customers tocorrect tipping areas and arranging for assistance whererequired;
  • Undertake generalhousekeeping/cleaning duties of gatehouse and site as requiredin order to maintain a safe, clean and tidy workarea;
  • Contribute to thedevelopment of site procedures and documentation such asStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
A currentBlue/White Construction Safety Card and unrestricted WA‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence are essential for thisrole, as is demonstrated ability to provide excellent customerservice and to provide a high level of service to members of thepublic and knowledge of waste site procedures and relevantlegislation. You will have highly developed data entry skillsand computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Officeapplications, good time management skills, developed interpersonal,written and verbal communication, and a passion for safety in theworkplace.
