As a Senior Counsel  you will provide comprehensive legal support to Emerson businesses in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), serving as the key legal business partner for all the assigned functional areas in ANZ, including sales, project teams, HR, Finance, Procurement.   • Provide legal advice and support to the Australian and New Zealand businesses on a broad spectrum of legal matters using independent analysis, including local country-specific regulations, employment law issues, dispute resolutions, etc.
  • Supervise legislative changes that affect business operations and ensure that internal policies and/or business processes are reviewed and updated for compliance with the evolving legal rules.
  • Keep ANZ management and Law Department management fully advised of all significant developments concerning all material matters in a timely fashion.
  • Collaborate with the Regulatory Compliance Practice Group to support ANZ international trade compliance issues, including advice on customs controls and supervising export control issues in the countries where the company operates.
  • Support the implementation of the Enterprise and local regulatory and compliance programs for international trade, due diligence, modern slavery, etc., in coordination with the Regulatory Compliance Practice Group and other Law Department colleagues.
  • Work with the Global Contracts Leader to support the ANZ contracts team with any customer negotiations or regional legal requirements for a broad range of contracts.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the critical initiatives of the Asia Pacific Legal Function, as directed by General Counsel, AP
  • Handle disputes and lawsuits with guidance from Emerson Litigation Group 
  • Provide legal support in relation to internal investigations in ANZ, as may be needed.
  • Lead external counsel, as necessary.
Who You Are: You keep up with current and possible future policies, practices, and trends in the organization, with the competition, and in the marketplace. Acquires data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems. Persists in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks. For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school
  • Experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or private practice)
  • Qualified in a common law jurisdiction, Australia qualification preferred.
  • Solution-finding, practical, with strong eye for business, able to weigh and take reasonable risks.
  • Self-motivated and keen on getting involved in and exposed to all kinds of legal matters and business areas.
