We are committed to delivering timely, quality, and collaborative assessment, treatment, and health promotion, in a supportive and caring environment that is open and transparent to social, ethnic, and income factors.JOB SUMMARYWe are looking for a compassionate clinical or counselling psychologist with excellent problem-solving skills who is committed to helping people better their lives. The psychologist will make assessments and identify a wide variety of disorders in clients, formulating suitable treatments by focusing on listening to patients and identifying their core problems, building strong, long-term relationships based on trust, and monitoring patient response to treatment over time, among other duties. As a psychologist, you will provide safe, quality patient care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the ByWard Family Health Team.RESPONSIBILITIES:Applying psychotherapy to assist patients with life challenges, behavioural and cognitive issues or emotion problemsTesting and assessing patients for indications of mental health disordersUsing psychotherapy to improve the quality of life for individuals, groups and familiesAiding in the patients coping with their conditions by teaching them how to adopt more healthy and positive behaviours and habitsDeveloping and implementing individualized treatment plans and strategies to help patientsEncouraging and reciprocating sustained opennessGenerating comprehensive treatment protocolsReferring patients to other specialists or doctors as neededKeeping a detailed accounts of patient mental health historyCollaborating other healthcare providers or team members to evaluate the medical and physical condition of the patientESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Doctoral degree in Psychology or Postgraduate degree in an applicable Psychotherapy-intensive disciplineRegistered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of OntarioExpertise in prevailing evidence-based protocolsExpert diagnosis skillsExperience providing psychotherapy treatment to patients of all agesA flexible, empathic, and receptive approach to psychotherapyKnowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniquesStrong listening, observation, and communication skillsFamiliarity with EMR/CHR systemsBilingual (English/French) is an assetACCOUNTABILITYStaff are expected to work in a professional manner, demonstrating above average qualities such as courtesy, tact, and judgment with respect to patients, fellow colleagues, and professionals.
