Job details
We are seeking a detailoriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records preparing financial reports analyzing data and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Key responsibilities:
- Preparation of financial statements & reports.
- Reviewing of Bank reconciliation statements.
- Reviewing of daily postings into the General Ledger.
- Creation of General ledgers for new transactions and Banks.
- Rendition of statutory returns (CBN NDIC CAC etc.).
- Budget preparation and allocation.
- Expense monitoring & control.
- Liaising with statutory bodies and government agencies such as (CBN NDIC PAYE WHT VAT).
- Liaising with compensation officer internal control & external auditors.
- Liaising with Banks of finance related issues.
- Attends to various meetings such as: Management meetings Credit review Credit Appraisal and general purpose meetings.
- Computation of depreciation and amortization.
- Preparation of salary journal and posting.
- Reconciliation of bank books and records: prepayment sundry creditors sundry customers unpaid salary etc.
- Maintenance and updating of fixed assets register and schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- Professional certification such as ICAN is an added advantage.
- Proven experience as an Accountant in a prominent Microfinance Bank with at least 35 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
