Director of Asset Management Reporting

This is a search for a Director of Asset Management Reporting with an acquisitive, established/entrepreneurial, Life & Annuity carrier that is planning to go public. Their mission is to provide their customers and their families life insurance, asset accumulation and supplemental health products to help them achieve their goals. The Director of Asset Management Reporting will be a key position in charge of helping the Client stand up and maintain the accounting for the newly formed asset management subsidiary. This individual will help lead the ongoing management and oversight of the subsidiaries, accounting and reporting and be a key contributor in the acquisition of third party asset managers and other investments. This person will be a key partner with peer group in investments. A fuller description is available. Some highlights of the scope of the role below:

• Deliver timely and accurate financial and other reporting to help management track the financial results of the asset management subsidiaries. This will involve workpaper and journal entry preparation and account analysis.
• Assist Head of Accounting Policy with accounting policy and methodology workflow for the asset management subsidiaries via account research
• Work directly with external auditors to answer questions, provide documentation and financial analysis in order to complete year end and interim audits.
• Prepare supporting files for the periodic submissions of financial information. Assist in answering questions about the financial information.
• Integrate reporting from subsidiaries reporting into group reporting
• Assist Finance team with the annual Budget process for the asset management subsidiaries
• Ensure appropriate SOX controls and workflow efficiencies are in place including suggesting changes to current workflows which enhance internal controls or save time.
• Previous experience in accounting for asset management companies required. Understanding of asset management in the insurance industry a plus.
• 8+ years relevant work experience
• Intermediate Excel and Word proficiencies
• Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles needed to prepare monthly journal entries, do a first review of general ledgers and understand the impact on the financial statements of the asset management business and perform key role in the financial reporting function of the asset management business
• Position is expected to work directly with other several disciplines (accounting, operational, legal, compliance) to make appropriate decisions - and be able to discuss those decisions with their manager.
• Assess and identify new or unusual transactions, projects, or requests from other departments and proactively determine the best way to address them.
