About the Role: As a Government Affairs Research Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the firm by conducting comprehensive research, analyzing legislative issues, and assisting in the development of strategic advocacy initiatives. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a political acumen to properly assess complex political landscapes. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research on legislative proposals, policy issues, and regulatory matters relevant to the lobbying efforts of the organization.
  • Compile and organize data, reports, and other materials to support lobbying campaigns and advocacy efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing documents, presentations, and written materials for policymakers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on current events, political developments, and industry trends that may influence lobbying strategies.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating logistics for lobbying activities.
Requirements Requirements:
  • A fastidious commitment to the fidelity and accuracy of one’s work product.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process, political dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information in a nuanced way depending on particular audience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in government affairs, public policy research, or advocacy is preferred.
