Site Name: Petaling Jaya Horizon Penthouse Posted Date: Apr 26 2024 The Head of Market Access & Key Accounts plays a pivotal role in driving market access strategies and cultivating key account relationships across the pharmaceutical industry, including pharmacy, private hospital, and public business. This position involves developing and executing strategies to optimize product access, reimbursement, and adoption within target markets. The role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of healthcare systems, and the ability to navigate complex payer landscapes. This role will lead and ensure the execution of the following: Market Access Strategies

  • Oversee the development and dissemination of health economic data, real-world evidence, and outcomes research to support product value and reimbursement decisions.
  • Formulate comprehensive market access strategies aligned with organizational goals and product objectives.
  • Analyze market dynamics, payer trends, and regulatory requirements to inform strategy development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders including commercial, medical affairs, government affairs and regulatory teams to ensure alignment of market access initiatives. Negotiate favorable formulary positions, pricing, and reimbursement terms to maximize product access and market share.
Key Account Relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with key payer organizations, including private insurers, government payers, pharmacy benefit managers, and reimbursement agencies.
  • Identify and prioritize key accounts including payers, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), IDNs (Integrated Delivery Networks), and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers within target accounts.
  • Accountable for delivery of turnover of GSK portfolio with specific accounts / channels.
  • Accountable for delivery and implementation of Commercial Trade strategy (trade offers and KA programs).
Pricing & and Reimbursement Strategy
  • Develop pricing strategies that balance product value proposition with market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • Conduct pricing analyses and assess the impact of pricing decisions on market access and profitability.
  • Lead reimbursement submissions and negotiations with payers to secure favorable coverage and reimbursement for products.
Cross-functional collaboration
  • Collaborate with local and above country stakeholders including sales, marketing, medical affairs, and regulatory teams to integrate market access strategies into overall commercial plans.
  • Provide training and support to sales teams on payer landscape, reimbursement processes, and market access strategies.
  • Represent the market access function in cross-functional meetings and initiatives to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical market access, payer relations, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing market access strategies that drive product uptake and revenue growth. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a matrix.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems, payer dynamics, and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of therapeutic areas and pharmaceutical product lifecycle.
  • Bachelors degree in business, medical, life sciences, pharmacy, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH) preferred.
