Responsible for overall operations of the Engineering Department while ensuring projects are delivered within safety, quality and budgetary targets set by the management. The role combines technical capability of producing engineering drawings for hull/structure, architectural outfit, electrical and piping/mechanical functions with management ability to oversee the operational performance of complex engineering Projects in close coordination with commercial, production and project management departments. Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department to ensure that engineering assistance is provided in all stages of the project from estimation to after sales service.
  • Apply Project Management techniques to manage the design and development progress with intent to early forecast any delay, non availability of technical know how, resources shortage etc. for prehand planning by concerned functional heads.
  • Recommend improvements to departmental policy and directs the implementation of procedures and controls covering all the areas of engineering activities so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
  • Oversee targets and deliverables for all services including performance of own team and subcontracting partners.
  • Manage change requirements by clients and assist commercial and production teams to plan change while resource, technology and time constrains are fully taken care avoiding any adverse impact to operations.
  • Assist in development and management of workforce, including competency frameworks, employee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, retention and termination activities.
  • Coordinate and direct projects, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and deliver projects on-time and within budget.
  • Liaise with Project Managers / Client / Class Societies as deemed for discussion on project matters and resolve issues.
  • Drive cost optimization and balance effective cost allocation to achieve sustainable profit and maximize value from work/project revenue stream.
  • Drive the safety culture within the department through ensuring compliance with all health, safety, security, environment and quality aspects of IMS, policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Gives directions to staff in resolving site issues regards to Structural, Piping fabrication and interferences.
  • Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from Mechanical/ Electrical/ Marine Engineering or Degree in Naval Architecture
