Job Title: Assistant Editor - Chemistry Cengage India is looking for an incumbent who will ensure that texts due for print publication or e-publication are well-written, in shape, grammatically correct, and error-free. The candidate himself will work or manage works on publications in test prep (competitive examinations) areas. Requirements: • Should have working experience as a Subject Editor for 3-5 years with a publisher of repute, operating in the competitive exam segment. • MSc in Chemistry • Subject Matter Expert in Chemistry • Strong hold over English language and sound grammar and usage skills • Ability to multi-task and set priorities • Exposure to working on board-level and competitive exam textbooks Responsibilities: Deriving products from online sources/indigenously published products Create a style sheet to detail the specifications of a publication Interact with authors to get responses/feedback/approval on editorial intervention and any specific author queries raised at the time of editing Coordinate with all stakeholders involved in the publication (author, typesetter, freelancers, etc.) Enlist, develop, and supervise a dependable pool of quality freelance copyeditors and proofreaders Get print-ready files prepared for printing Maintain project records for each publication
