Environmental Engineer
Job details
This position will be to support a wide range of environmental and natural resources research for clients such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other clients. Research topics include climate change impacts, and adaptation and vulnerability/resilience. Research may also involve topics such as health and economic impacts of air quality, assessing benefits/costs of environmental policies and developing tools to address environmental justice/equity issues. Essential Duties :
- Responsible for supporting development of methods for assessing environmental impacts.
- Conducting analysis using different statistical, analytical, and geospatial techniques.
- Conducting stakeholder engagements and preparing related materials.
- Conducting systematic literature/data reviews and summarizing relevant insights.
- Support computation and modeling of environmental, health and social data.
- Geospatial analysis and mapping.
- Post-processing and visualizations.
- Supporting project management activities.
- Communicating findings to the research team and contributing to products that summarize/communicate findings and analysis. Examples of such products include reports, manuals, user guides, factsheets, whitepapers, slides, memos and manuscripts.
- Responsible for contributing to projects and business development as part of a team.
- Collaborating with RTI staff and clients worldwide on assigned tasks.
- Supporting client meetings (including US clients, so require some flexibility in terms of timings).
- Supporting project and proposal management activities.
- Strong analytical (numeric and logical) skills coupled with ability to make logical decisions.
- Sound domain knowledge of environmental sciences and ability to learn and use new applications.
- Experience with quantitative tools such as Python, R, JAVA, ArcGIS/QGIS and SQL is required.
- Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau is required.
- Other software such as SAS and STATA (nice to have, not required).
- Experience with satellite/remote sensing data (nice to have, not required).
- Hands on experience with implementing/executing various types of data analysis and statistical techniques (Regression, cluster analysis, decision tree, machine learning models) is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different multidisciplinary staff.
- Interest in environment and health related research.
- Experience working with US and Asian clients/teams (nice to have, not required).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
