Here at Telethon Kids our vision is simple: Happy, Healthy Kids! TheOutreach team at the Telethon Kids Institute coordinate the Institute’sinteractive Discovery Centre, education programs and outreach activities. Thisteam sits within the broader External Affairs and Engagement portfolio whichmanages activities across communications and marketing, government relations,philanthropy and fundraising, as well as building and strengthening ourconnections with the community including Aboriginal families and communities. TheOutreach team work closely with researchers and scientists to develop anddeliver programs, activities and events to inspire the next generation ofTelethon Kids scientists. Due to growth in our programs, we now have anopportunity for an experienced educator or science communicator to join theteam as an Outreach Coordinator. Drawing on your experience as a classroomteacher, science communicator or other relevant experience the OutreachCoordinator is responsible for developing and executing school excursion,incursion and holiday workshop programs working in partnership with Instituteresearchers to ensure all material relates back to the work of the Institute. Reportingto the Senior Outreach Coordinator and working closely with the wider Outreachteam you will also plan hands-on activities to be run at community events,within the hospital and in regional and remote areas. A full list of responsibilities can be found on the jobdescription however some of your duties will include:
- Liaise with schools to coordinate excursion and incursion bookings.
- Work with researchers to develop and create new program activities.
- Evaluate programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Coordinate activities for external events.
- Complete risk plans & assessments for each program.
- Tertiary qualification in education, science, science communication or similar experience.
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and a C Class Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with children and teachers in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully build, manage and develop positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience developing and facilitating education sessions through workshops, meetings, presentations and talks.
- Demonstrated experience in project management within an outreach, campaign or education focus.
- Passion for science.
