English Language Partners is a not-for-profit, award-winning education provider with NZQA category 1 endorsement, that has been providing English language programmes and settlement services to adult migrants and former refugees throughout New Zealand for over 40 years.

We do amazing things, we have a strong team, solid foundations and make a huge difference to 1000's of lives a year and are looking for an experienced education administrator and team leader to achieve this.

 

What you’ll be doing

·        Coordinating a range of English Language Programmes for our Horowhenua Centre; essentially managing the administration and logistics for a range of literacy and conversational English programmes and ensuring that the teachers and learners have what they need to operate effectively. This role is 28 hours, Monday – Thursday 9-4.30.

·        With the guidance of your Palmerston North based manager you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of our Centre, supervising staff, providing feedback, approving payroll and leave requests, and assisting with teacher recruitment and training as needed.

·        Stakeholder and community liaison is a key part of the role, you’ll be connecting with local businesses, educators, ethnic communities, the refugee settlement agency in the region and other community groups to ensure your centre is attracting and meeting the needs of learners in the area.

·        Your teaching background also gives you the skills to understand and support quality teaching provision, conduct teacher observations and assess and place learners in the right class.

·        Working out of our centre based in levin, you will enjoy interacting with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. You’ll be comfortable with technology, bean independent self-starter and want a permanent full-time role that is varied and flexible.

 

Is this you?

·        Tertiary qualified preferably with an English Language teaching (ELT) qualification at level 5 or above (eg. CELTA, DELTA, Trinity) or equivalent.

·        Adult TESOL experience, or proven experience teaching adults in other settings is highly desirable, as is experience working with former refugees or migrants

·        Ideally you’ll have 1-2 years managing teaching staff or general team leadership/ supervisory experience and/or programme/education management experience.

·        Proven administration/coordination experience, with strong time management and organisational skills.

·        Excellent IT skills across with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook)and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.

·        A clear and friendly communication style, fluency in English (spoken and written) with astrong customer service ethos. Fluency in a second language highly desirable but not essential.

·        Confidence to proactively engage with learners, volunteers, and the wider community to promote the centre.

·        A motivated self-starter with strong cultural sensitivity, empathy and the ability to work as part of a tight-knit team.

·        A current clean full driver’s licence and able to use own vehicle for occasional work-related meetings is highly desirable.
