Role Purpose We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join the team to serve as a subject matter expert on solar markets and trends in the Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate will develop market studies and reports through the analysis of solar projects, markets, policies, and costs across Asia Pacific. The candidate will track and report on vendor market shares, installation costs, and deployment trends. Key responsibilities of the role will include collaborating with the Global Assets team on data management, extraction, and developing data tools to assist with data visualization and report and insight generation. The Senior Research Analyst will unpack industry trends that influence solar markets in Asia Pacific, such as demand drivers, contracting structures, supply chain dynamics, financing mechanisms, and go-to market strategies. The Senior Research Analyst will conduct industry outreach for data integrity of our databases and reports for our growing Power & Renewables practice. These responsibilities will include synthesizing market intelligence through direct client / survey outreach to support data modelling and research products. Main Responsibilities
  • Develop original market analysis, research, and consulting with a culmination in client deliverables and industry thought leadership pieces.
  • Grow to be a thought leader of solar markets in Asia Pacific. Provide high-quality client service to research subscribers through responding to inquiries, one-on-one conversations, and special events.
  • Produce reports and data as required to support our research deliverables and consulting engagements.
  • Write and/or co-author insight pieces for clients and the broader industry.
  • Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to support research reports, conferences, marketing services and editorial coverage.
  • Work with other teams across Wood Mackenzie (e.g., the Global Data Assets team) to leverage internal expertise and maintain the consistency and integrity of data.
  • Strengthen the data apparatus through surveys, interviews, and secondary research. Refresh the analytical models with updated data on a regular basis.
  • Build a strong relationship with industry stakeholders. Engage with them directly through frequent conversations, conference participation, webinars. and one-on-one briefings.
  • Assist with industry outreach on solar technology trends, policy and regulatory drivers, project deployments, pricing, and competitive landscape in North America.
  • Build, populate, maintain, and create new datasets and models to ensure timely capture of current industry trends.
About You
  • Interest in renewable energy and the broad transformation of the electricity sector.
  • Knowledgeable about solar development and trends in Asia Pacific. Understands the steps of the solar development process, the various stakeholders involved, and the technical fundamentals of a solar asset.
  • Excellent problem solving, documentation, communication and organisation skills, and attention to detail.
  • At least three years of experience working in the renewable energy or power industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong analytical capabilities. Interested in using both qualitative and quantitative methods to answer market questions.
  • Self-driven. Capable of switching between the roles of an individual contributor and a collaborator.
  • Strong technical background or technically-minded individual.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye towards collaboration .
  • An engaging nature, capable of connecting with co-workers, clients and industry stakeholders in a wide range of professional settings.
  • A deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of a wider business landscape.
  • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills .
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Experience in the following are preferred, but not required: VBA, SQL, or Python.
