About the Team Xero’s ‘Catalyst Engineering’ portfolio is our platform engineering and enablement function, responsible for powering Xero’s engineers and our Partner Ecosystem with the platforms and toolchains to rapidly build innovative, robust and secure products that meet the needs of Xero’s customers. The team are at the forefront of technology adoption for Xero and include some of the best and brightest technology talent in the locations where we operate. About the Role The mission of Architects at Xero is to ensure that Xero’s technologies and technical direction will support our long-term business goals. We deliver visualised clarity, frame the future, provide goldilocks governance, demystify complexity and bridge between worlds. As an Architect aligned to the Catalyst Engineering portfolio, you will work closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to ensure that the technical capabilities of our platforms and toolchains evolve in step with the products that they support. You will work with product architects and engineers to drive the adoption of new and evolving platform capabilities and best practices within their products. Internal to the team you will bring the leadership, customer obsession and technical depth required to build strong working relationships with your product and engineering counterparts.
What you’ll bring with you
- Experience working as an Architect or Principal Engineer in a Platform Engineering function
- Experience implementing developer platforms that delivered one or more of the following capabilities in a cloud-native context: Compute, Databases, Identity and Access Management, Full-lifecycle API management, Event / Message-based Integration, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, Observability, Networking
- Experience implementing an Internal Developer Portal is desirable
- In-depth knowledge of cloud providers, ideally AWS but also GCP or Azure.
- Experience with domain-driven design, synchronous and asynchronous integration of complex data driven systems.
- Demonstrated ability to translate between high-level business strategy to an actionable platform roadmap
- Working knowledge of agile software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management.
- Familiarity with data privacy and compliance requirements.
