The purpose of the role is to plans, direct and implement organisational safety, health, and environmental programmes. Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma (Safety Management).
- ISO 14001 (Internal Auditor)
- SAMTRAC, ESG & sustainability certificate. Experience:
- 6-8 years relevant safety health and environmental experience
- Develop a SHE operational plan in accordance with the set targets.
- Develop and implement a sustainability strategy in alignment with company goals.
- Ensure compliance across all sites to occupational health and safety legislation.
- Keep abreast with updates in occupational health and safety legislation and advise management thereof.
- Develop, update and drive compliance with SHE policies across the Company's Automotive Division.
- Develop, implement and evaluate safety, risk, security, health and environmental management programmes within the Company's Automotive Division.
- Continually monitor, measure trends and Company's Automotive Division’s performances to highlight and reduce risks and concerns.
- Monitor and maintain the SHE management systems.
- Update and create monthly Company's Automotive Division electronic SHE reports.
- Prepare reports on the progress of sustainability efforts presenting findings to senior management.
- Be the management representative for the ISO 14001 and OHAS 18001 systems.
- Conduct, report and follow up on a pre-use, safety and/or audit inspection including Risk Control.
- Analyse, SHE audits results across the Company's Automotive Divisions and make recommendations and drive closure of findings.
- Manage and implement a risk management program that is in-line with Business SHE requirements.
- Create action items and facilitate improvement programs to continually improve upon identified risks.
- Develop health and safety principles regarding the prevention of fires and protection systems.
- Assume overall responsibility for the integrity of all the sites across the Company's Automotive Division security systems.
- Lead and co-ordinate sustainability initiatives and projects across all Company's Automotive Division.
- Engage with external stakeholders on sustainability issues.
- Develop and manage budgets for sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure an enabling climate/culture.
- Ensure a safe, secure and legal working environment.
- Manage individual, team and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectives.
- Compile and update performance contracts and individual development plans and facilitate individual career path planning.
- Determine the training needs of the Department.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage sub-standard performance.
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels.
- Ensure discipline is maintained in the department (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.).
