Position Summary: As a Technical Team Lead for Database Administrator (DBA) and member of the Engineering Operations team, you will be responsible for the research and planning, development, implementation, utilization, monitoring, and administration of databases, primarily Oracle and PostgreSQL Servers. The team is responsible for database security, integrity, efficiency, scheduling, maintenance, and documentation. They will establish and enforce written guidelines, rules, and standards. The role of Technical Team Lead for Database Administrator is instrumental in the successful delivery of Webb Fontaine’s products. The Technical Team Lead, DBA directly reports to the Datacenter Operation Manager and Director of IT Infrastructure. Key responsibilities: -Design, implement, and document database architecture, replication, operating procedures, and standards/conventions – Keep all relevant documentation and credentials updated – Collaborate with other teams, parties, or partners and ensure tasks are scheduled and completed on time – Create Problem tickets and conduct necessary actions to determine appropriate fixes for recurring or critical incidents – Remote/on-call support for databases in production environments especially during critical and service-impacting incidents – Guarantee Implementation and monitoring of backup, replication, performance improvements, and disaster recovery solutions – Guarantee efficient Database administration including installation and configuration, upgrading/patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS SQL Server databases – Lead in anticipating compatibility problems with operating systems, new functionalities, and utilities – Lead in DB/query tuning and performance, data modeling, schema design, and review – Guarantee database and data integrity and security based on best practices – Lead on automating and performance improvement of any recurring tasks – Participate in shifts and on-call rotations and respond to after-hour alerts – Train other members of the team, especially junior ones – Manage, plan, and oversee work activities and side projects for the team of DBAs making sure it is adequately distributed – Oversee team management activities such as team development needs, leave approvals, and participate in personnel evaluations – Lead to maintain high team morale and enthusiasm – Performs other related duties as may be assigned by immediate superior as requested and deemed necessary Qualifications: -BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field – At least 5 years of Lead DBA experience – Prior experience leading a team of technical engineers – Expertise in Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in high-volume, high-impact transactional environments – In-depth knowledge of best practices relating to database security standards and replication – Shell scripting & strong Linux system administrator skills – Ability to learn new technologies with minimal supervision – Experience with automation of recurring tasks and standardization of processes – Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively -Readiness to work extended hours according to local law, when required – Fluency in English -Fluency in French is an advantage Preferred Licenses or Certifications: -Oracle certification -ITIL Foundation certification is a plus -Any related certification Benefits: -Competitive base salary -Comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance and days off -Exposure to diverse international clients and industries How to apply: We look forward to meeting you in person to discuss the role in detail and hear about your career goals.
