Join us and start doing your life's best work. (sm) We are currently seeking a candidate to fill an exciting role within Optum Global Advantage Content and Design team. The Sr Instructional Designer will build scalable learning experiences that develop teams across Optum Global Advantage. The ideal candidate will be creative and tech savvy with experience working across multiple instructional delivery modalities with expert level digital design skills. The Sr Instructional Designer will create and continuously improve learning experiences using an array of approaches that engage learners and drive high-impact learning. You will be responsible for designing high-quality training content in multiple formats such as interactive eLearning, videos, instructor-led content, virtual classroom design, tool kits, job aids, infographics, study guides and simulations. The role requires an individual who can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. The role also requires deep collaboration with SMEs including senior-level leaders across multiple disciplines/functional roles. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The candidate should be an adult learning expert who is creative, analytical, and customer-focused with solid writing skills. __________ Required Qualification:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in instructional, digital design and learning content development
  • Working experience or familiarity with Oracle HCM functionality and similar HRMS
  • Scripting of systems and other technical training content
  • Developing training assets in a mixed media format (job aids, eLearning, videos, ILT, system training, scenarios, games, and in-app point of need guidance instructions etc)
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills and drives for results individually and in a team setting.
Brief Job Description: · Engage/collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and SMEs needed to identify business needs, performance goals and gaps and conduct content analysis · Research/analyze data needed to identify/confirm business issues (e.g., quality data, production data)· Conduct task analysis research to identify the specific knowledge, skills, behaviors needed to achieve desired performance levels (e.g., focus groups, observation)· Develop learning objectives based on appropriate analyses (e.g., business analysis, task analysis, audience analysis)· Engage/collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and SMEs to determine appropriate training content (e.g., products, processes, tools, skills needed)· Develop project plans for design/development of identified solutions (e.g., in-scope/out-of scope elements, timeframes, resources, roles/responsibilities, priorities, cost estimates, feasibility analyses, risks/assumptions)· Apply principles of adult learning and training best practices to create effective and innovative training design solutions · Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions to prepare trainers for delivery of training solutions and ensure/validate trainer readiness · Conduct training pilots to identify specific issues that needed to be addressed prior to delivery (e.g., timing, media, content gaps, audience engagement, assessment issues, training guides/materials)· Collaborate with trainers to identify strengths and areas for improvement in training solutions, and appropriate steps to take to improve training effectiveness (e.g., content, activities, materials, delivery methods) Technical Skills · Skilled in developing content using Articulate Storyline 360· Intermediate proficiency with using Office tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint sites Process Specific Skills · Training needs analysis, design and development planning · Project management, time management, people and vendor management · Good knowledge of basic ID principles such as ADDIE, Bloom’s taxonomy, Adult Learning Principles, Gagne’s 9 events etc. · Ability to design or develop serious games (game-based quizzes)· Awareness of gamification frameworks · Feedback syntheses and follow-up/information gathering using relationship, prioritization and application · Act as a project manager to build and coordinate end-to-end plans for design, production and communication – using short cycles and involving employees throughout · Own the development and production of learning resources and solutions using internal/external capabilities (including vendor management where necessary)· Run the production process with SMEs to ensure validation of content and flow Soft Skills · Excellent written and spoken communication skills · Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities · Creative bent of mind with out of the box thinking Optum, part of the UnitedHealth Group family of businesses, brings together some of the greatest minds and most advanced ideas on where health care has to go in order to reach its fullest potential.
