The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was established on 1 January 2005, when the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon merged. This merger was part of a national transformation process that transformed the higher education landscape in South Africa.
Today, this institution is the only university of technology in the Western Cape and is the largest university in the region, boasting more than 30 000 students, several campuses and service points and more than 70 programmes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: PROFESSOR:
A Doctoral degree in Chemistry Education or Science Education with specialization in Chemistry
Chemistry or Chemistry Education as a major subject at Bachelor's level
A relevant teaching qualification
At least ten (10) years' relevant experience in teaching in higher education of which three (3) years must be at Senior Lecturer level comprising of relevant academic management experience.
Recipient of research awards and grants
Demonstrable track record of publications in accredited and peer-reviewed journals over the last 5 years (nationally and internationally)
Post-graduate students supervised to completion relevant to the Education field (preferably in the field SP FET)
Experience in supervision of students on teaching practice.
NRF rated.
Adequate knowledge of South African CAPS requirements.
Experience as an external examiner/moderator at masters' and doctoral levels.
Experience in curriculum development
Knowledge of the HEQSF processes
Proven evidence of academic and research leadership qualities/high stature in the field nationally and/or internationally
Recommendations: Professor
Previous experience in a similar position or at an equivalent level

At least (6) six years' relevant experience in teaching in higher education of which three (3) years must be at Senior Lecturer level comprising of relevant academic management experience.
