Mechanical Reliability Engineer

Within this role you will be responsible for providing support, direction and subject matter expertise on mechanical reliability issues to Facilities Production, Utilities and HVAC teams. Evaluating current mechanical plant equipment for reliability and assesses alternative options available. Maintaining data of current equipment performance to identify and prevent potential reliability issues & implement reliability monitoring programs to provide maximum uptime of equipment. As a Mechanical Reliability Engineer, a typical day might include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Leading reliability improvements to identify opportunities in advance to support planned and predictive replacement vs reactive replacement using existing & developing technologies
- Providing support, direction and subject matter expertise on Mechanical Reliability issues
- Producing and implementing the site reliability policies for all equipment and systems, ensuring all planned routines are correctly specified and critical spares are available to allow the maintenance team to effectively complete tasks
- Conducting troubleshooting for complex issues with plant equipment issues and associated systems, identifying and recommending corrective actions
- Analyzing equipment failure data to identify patterns and trends
- Leading engineering Root cause analysis and implementation of long-term engineering solutions to prevent reoccurrences, manage KPI’s such as Run Hours, Mean Time Between Failure (MBTF) and Cost to repair of equipment and systems
- Supplying reliability status monthly reporting figures, analyses trends and developing improvement projects to address the issues of concern, making continuous improvement
- Leading reliability initiatives through improvement such as Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to identify opportunities to advance planned and predictive replacement & condition-based monitoring vs reactive replacement using existing & developing technologies
- Leading the development & contribute as SME to ensure site maintenance procedures are in line with Global Engineering Standards & Engineering Best Practices
- Interpreting P&IDs, equipment/system layouts, wiring diagrams and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs
- Evaluating new mechanical equipment for Functional Equivalence to existing equipment that has become obsolete
- Writing and executing test plans and technical evaluations to demonstrate instrument suitability for change control documentation
- Supervising engineering contractors
- Maintaining company reputation by enforcing compliance with regulatory bodies and international standards
