Are you our next Payroll Tax Operations Manager ? Location: Dublin, as part of our hybrid working model. Grade: Manager Contract type: Perm A snapshot of your peer group:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a busy payroll environment
  • Global Mobility exposure desirable but not a “must have”
  • Membership of the Irish Taxation Institute (or equivalent foreign institute) or qualified accountant (Chartered Accountant or equivalent), IPASS or other
  • Good technical skills and knowledge of employment and expatriate taxes
  • A comprehensiveunderstanding of the PAYE system, PRSI, USC, BIK, ROS, EFT and CSO
  • Experience working with multiple payroll software packages, HR, finance, T&E, expense systems, together with advanced microsoft excel skills
  • Ability to delegate, manage and review trainee/senior work on allocated domestic and international clients.
  • Previous experience in coordinating global and/or regional payroll tax compliance services for domestic and/or multinational clients
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Oversee the successful delivery and review of a portfolio of complex high profile domestic and international payroll clients e.g. senior executives, key directors, local and expatriate employees etc.
  • Advise on employer compliance obligations with regard to various items of remuneration, including benefits in kind, directors’ fees, share based remuneration, salary sacrifice, termination payments etc.
  • Oversee compliance with real time reporting and timely filing and payment of payroll taxes in respect of local and shadow payroll employees
  • Ensure quality control procedures are adhered to in order to ensure local and shadow payroll review is carried out to a consistently high quality
  • Manage and oversee the workflow of the payroll team i.e. reviewing work, allocating workload, managing resources and assessing performance
  • Experience across various banking platforms (e.g. BOI, AIB, Ulster Bank, HSBC, Bank of America etc.)
  • Responsible for the successful delivery and review of a portfolio shadow payroll calculations in respect of cross border senior executives, including gross-ups, hypo taxes, corrections, and tax adjustments
  • Advise on employer compliance obligations with regard to domestic and cross border employees e.g. operation of benefits in kind, inbound and outbound assignees, PAYE for non-residents, operation of shadow payroll, PAYE exclusion orders, etc.
  • Identification of and application of appropriate payroll tax concessions and reliefs e.g., SARP, split year treatment, travel and subsistence etc.
  • Consult with and support our tax team on employment tax obligations
  • Experience identifying areas of employer non-compliance (PAYE audits, due diligence, payroll controls/operational reviews) providing guidance on best practice
  • Quantify potential payroll tax exposures and assisting with preparation of self-corrections, voluntary disclosures (draft letter, Revenue notifications etc.)
  • Process optimization and documentation for our payroll team to enable them to efficiently manage complex local and shadow payroll client portfolios and queries
  • Conduct payroll operational effectiveness tax process reviews including identifying material gaps in the process and recommending control improvements
  • Assist with PAYE queries and reviews within the wider tax practice
  • Continual improvement and standardisation of payroll operations and systems, including processes around data collection, co-ordination and management of client portfolios
  • Assist other departments within the firm with payroll compliance and advisory queries for their client portfolio
