  • Ability to operate in a matrixed environment, influencing wide audiences at all levels and working effectively across functions and geographies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop market insights, marketing strategy and analyze campaign effectiveness.
  • Excellent leadership, management, written/verbal communication, and people management skills.

About the job

Whether you're on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (Google Ads, AdSense, Google Marketing Platform, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product's journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the representation of the product and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you'll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end. As the Head of Marketing for Sub-Saharan Africa, you will help shape the future of one of our many Google products. You will lead every facet of the products journey from determining positioning, naming, analysis, feature prioritization and external communications. You will work with the cross-functional team across sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. You will create the product development process, organize product launches from beginning to end and form a future marketing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local market expertise and insights through an understanding of consumer, industry and engaged behaviour.
  • Work closely with product teams in Mountain View to develop/adapt products for African users and businesses.
  • Develop, advocate and implement Google's marketing plans for consumer and advertiser products in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Lead and manage project execution of high impact programs to drive product usage and positive public perception across SSA (e.g., Grow with Google).
Build and mentor the SSA Marketing team, located across South Africa, Nigeria ,and Kenya, to manage all Google marketing efforts across SSA.
  • Manage the SSA marketing budget and advocate the needs of the African markets in a fast-changing and dynamic international company. Drive new creative and execution best practices from Africa around the world.
