Cape Town Torah High is an Independent International High School, registered with the WCED, situated in Gardens, Cape Town. We are looking to appoint a General Studies Principal to lead our dynamic team in January 2025 Aim of the school Our school is cutting edge in that we prescribe to a personalised, self-directed educational philosophy. We keep our classes small and individualise each student’s educational road-map. We encourage our students to be self-motivated, self-starters who ask, explore and understand, and we believe that this approach to education ensures our students learn at their own supervised pace, are positioned at their ability level, and in so doing ensure that they do not fall behind due to conceptual/knowledge gaps but rather achieve their own personal best across all subjects. Position CTTH seeks to employ a creative and dynamic General Studies Principal to guide the academic progress of the school and join the operation management team. The successful candidate will need to display strong leadership skills, a creative approach to education and the ability to build rapport with students, parents and teachers. Experience in an international school will be advantageous. Responsibilities
- Manage the secular academic life of the school including curriculum planning, pace setting, assessment standards and reporting.
- Manage the international diploma requirements for all students including the school SAT centre, maintaining relationships with international curriculum providers and ensuring that all trajectories and transcripts are managed thoroughly.
- Manage the ongoing international accreditation of the school through ACS WASC.
- Nurture the pastoral life of the school through student, parent and teacher engagement.
- Manage the secular teachers.
- Assist the Dean with the operational life of the school including schoolwide activities and community engagement.
- Assist with marketing and fundraising.
- A relevant teaching qualification and SACE registration.
- A proven track record in leadership (5-10 years minimum).
- An acceptance and willingness to become better acquainted with Jewish values and practices.
- Self-motivation, with a sound work ethic, initiative and high levels of energy.
- Time and stress management skills, strong organisational skills and adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues, as well as being student and parent-oriented.
- An ability to inspire, comfort and build self-esteem.
- An ability to listen and respond to management, staff, students and parents.
- Excellent computer skills, across a variety of devices and programmes including sound knowledge of the Google Suite.
- A willingness to teach across learning areas according to the needs of the school.
- A willingness to be involved in the wider school community, including our two primary schools (Sinai Academy and Phyllis Jowell Jewish Day School).
