Taxonomist

Job Title: Taxonomist Job type: 12-months contract Job Location: Remote Company Overview: Our client is an American technology company that develops, sells, repairs, and supports computers and related products and services. The Role: Our client is looking for a Taxonomist to fulfill the creation, maintenance, and governance of taxonomies as well as manage the attributes associated with them. Stakeholders include the taxonomy governance group, ontology governance group, product management group, taxonomists, ontologists, system owners, business unit stakeholders and IT developers. It is expected that this role will have a heavy communications component including education. Qualifications:

• 5+ years' experience working in taxonomy management and governance in a large organization.
• Proven record of creating taxonomies from business requirements.
• Experience researching, identifying, and documenting requirements, as well as enforcing standards, agreements, and charters.
• Experienced Linguist with ability to contextualize information.
• Understanding of content management and development, as well as search and retrieval tools.
• Familiar with NLP engines.
• Self-starter with a curious mind and good discernment.
• Proven ability to navigate through ambiguity.
• Able to work within a complex environment with many stakeholders.
• Basic understanding of ontologies (mainly semantic).
• Available to work during US time zones, when needed.
• Experience with SKOS standards.
• Experience working with Graph databases, ontologies, and Natural Language.
• Processing strategies (NLP) for relevant and robust optimization.
• Knowledge of tools like Semantic Web Pool Party, and/or Graph DB Ontotext a plus.
