Our client is a global PE firm backed by a blue chip and international investment firm. The co’s global HQ is in Singapore with another office in Shanghai. It is now hiring an AD finance role to do a hybrid role covering 1) valuation of investments (approx. 50% now, but this may go up in future) ; 2) fund accounting/operations (approx. 50%) in the finance team. For this investment firm, the finance team is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, tax, operations and investments’ valuations. This role will report to the Head of Finance and work in a lean team. Key Responsibilities: Valuation of investments (around 50% of time*)
  • Drive the valuation process across private, fund and public investments, which includes leading the quarterly valuation committee meetings, understanding and analysing deal structures/parameters, transaction documents and their impact on valuation
  • Lead and coordinate annual independent valuations to ensure accurate and fair valuations, including the review of methodologies, inputs and assumptions used in the valuations performed by independent valuers, ensuring alignment with the firm’s valuation policy and management of various stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective controls and oversight of key valuation controls and processes
  • Fund accounting/ operation (around 50% of the time)*)
  • Review NAV reporting packs, reconciliations and other financial reports from fund administrator, and ensure accurate financial reporting and timely submissions for statutory and other reporting requirements
  • Manage cashflow and investment funding requirements, and loan drawdowns from subscription facility line
  • Support internal audit, external audit and investment-related reporting processes
  • Operational support including trade processing, settlement and reconciliation, and corporate actions
  • Involvement in firm-wide currency risk management and hedging activities
  • To proactively identify opportunities to simplify end-to-end processes and drive efficiency, while maintaining strong compliance and controls
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects assigned
*- this is a rough estimate of the job split which may vary along the way due to business needs as determined by the finance director Qualifications & requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CA, CFA and/or CVA qualification(S) will be an advantage
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant work experience; with at least 3 to 4 years of valuation experience complemented with some experience in audit & assurance in public accounting firms and/or financial accounting in private market fund
  • Has min 4 years of valuation exp gained in the valuation team of Big 4 /valuation firms. Also open to Big 4 auditors with some experience auditing the valuation work with asset management/ PE clients.
  • Has hands-on experience reviewing financial models and reviewing model valuation reports.
  • Added fund operations experience is a plus (but not a must)
  • Strong technical and analytical abilities.
  • Independent, resourceful and able to work collaboratively with business stakeholders and other teams
  • Having an open mindset and flexibility in adapting to evolving challenges of the role
  • Strong team player who is also flexible and work well in a boutique investment firm set up. Stable in his/her career outlook.
  • Has Chinese speaking/reading proficiency as some of the underlying documents are in Chinse and there are also requirements to converse in Mandarin at times when meeting with some counterparts in China.
