Job details
- Conduct aerodynamic analysis to assess the stability and control characteristics of aircraft, including evaluating the effects of different flight conditions, control surface deflections, and external disturbances.
- Develop and use computer-based simulations and models to predict and analyze the aircraft's stability and control behavior, including both linear and nonlinear simulations.
- Plan, coordinate, and analyze flight test data to validate and refine stability and control models, making adjustments as needed to improve aircraft performance.
- Design and optimize control systems, including the development of control laws and algorithms that ensure safe and stable flight across a range of operating conditions.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure that the stability and control systems are integrated seamlessly into the overall aircraft design.
- Ensure that the aircraft meets all safety and regulatory requirements related to stability and control.
- Continuously monitor and assess the performance of stability and control systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to stability and control analyses, design specifications, and test results.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including aerodynamicists, structural engineers, avionics engineers, and flight test engineers, to achieve overall aircraft performance goals
- A bachelor's degree in Aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is typically required
- At least 5 years of experience in aircraft stability and control analysis and design.
- Familiarity with aerospace regulations and certification processes, such as those from the FAR Part 23 is beneficial
- Knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or C/C++ for modeling.
- Usage of lower fidelity methods such as spreadsheet calculations.
