Follow @abbvie onTwitter,Facebook,Instagram,YouTubeandLinkedIn.Job Description*This position will sit on-site 3 days/week*Purpose:The Associate Director in Statistical Innovation is responsible for providing scientific and statistical leadership to lead or collaborate with other functions on important clinical development and DSS initiatives and projects, especially those using advanced statistical methodology, advanced predictive modeling and ML/DL.Key Responsibilities:Lead cutting edge methodology identification, investigation, implementation and simulation activities to support Calico programLead or support safety related analyses, modeling and interpretation for Calico programLead or collaborate with other functions on important global therapeutics or DSS innovation initiatives using advanced statistical methodology, advanced predictive modeling and/or ML/DL.Lead or co-lead high priority statistical excellence working group(s) that investigate novel methodologies and provide technical reports and guidance/best practice documents and applications to DSS statisticiansProvide strategic and technical input to clinical development programs on innovative approaches to increase efficiencyProvide strategic consulting and simulation support to DSS internal or external partners on innovation related projectsPropose and drive opportunities to participate in the complex innovative design (CID) initiative from FDAStay on top of advanced and emerging statistical methodologies including adaptive designs, AI/ML, imaging deep learning, generative AI, synthetic control and digital twin, and provide education seminars to DSS internal and external partnersBuilds and maintains external reputation and influences in the industry with presentations, by attending industry meetings, and authoring peer-reviewed publicationsContinuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is requiredQualificationsPhD in statistics, biostatistics, physics or related field with at least 6 years of related work experience.Strong publication recordsStrong presence in scientific community with invited talks, presentations and other community servicesStrong modeling, coding, algorithm development and simulation capability using R and PythonStrong machine learning and deep learning methodologies and application capability in imaging, texts and other unstructured dataExperience in MMRM, Sample Size Re-estimation and other clinical trial design methodologies and simulationsExperience in Safety analyses and modeling using either clinical trial data, public available databases or social media dataExperience in leading or contributing cross-functional initiativesExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven ability to collaborate and consult with discipline experts and leaders within and across functions.Passionate about statistical innovation, always thinks out of the box, and is never satisfied with the status quoAdditional InformationApplicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law:The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believesingood faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.Individualcompensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we mayultimatelypay more or less than the posted range.
