Senior Buyer - Footwear - Markham

We are looking for a team member who is confident, current, connected and youthful…a person who loves people and fashion. If you believe in this too, then we have the perfect position for you.  An opportunity has become available in our buying team for a Footwear Senior BuyerResponsibilities:Successfully source and procure a range of Footwear,Procure and range build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to all trading opportunities.Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.Negotiate effectively.Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers (both nationally & internationally) and key functions in the business.Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail.Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.Requirements:Have experience as a Buyer (5+ years essential)Specific Footwear knowledge and experience is preferableHave a high degree of organisation and prioritization skillsA working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable).Competencies and behaviours for success: Have a strong business acumen and merchant thinkingExcellent planning, organising and interpersonal skillsHave a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientatedBe assertive and communicate at all levels.Be a team playerA proven solid track record in buyingAn interest in and knowledge of trendsPreference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act
