Job Summary:

As a Repair Technician, you will be responsible for:
  1. Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
  2. Positioning parts for assembly.
  3. Performing disassembly and assembly of mechanical components.
  4. Reporting quality issues of the day-to-day assembly and fitting of the full range of NOV Rig's product line.
  5. Supporting, improving, and leading on-time repair of products through specific techniques and innovative idea generation.
  6. Utilizing existing knowledge of best mechanical engineering practices and hydraulic knowledge.

Responsibilities:

As a Repair Technician, your responsibilities include:
  1. Reading, interpreting, and following basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  2. Carrying out work instructions as given by Supervisor, e.g., work specifications, equipment operation.
  3. Monitoring and controlling materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or faults.
  4. Identifying product defects and completing appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
  5. Reworking and/or repairing assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
  6. Maintaining quality and quantity of production.
  7. Checking work via the use of gauges, visuals, and measuring tools.
  8. Maintaining an organized/visual workspace including inventory (5S understanding).
  9. Supporting key initiatives such as on-time delivery, schedule attainment, cost of quality.
  10. Generating and implementing improvement ideas and encouraging idea generation among team members.
  11. Stopping work for safety, stopping production for quality, and escalating concerns.
  12. Being familiar with and using proactive root cause problem solving (Fishbone etc.).
  13. Evaluating current production estimates and outputs.
  14. Supporting all NCR reporting.
  15. Supporting initiatives such as new techniques and products, purchases of new machinery.
  16. Attending daily team brief meetings, actively engaging in positive discussions regarding potential problematic areas.
  17. Accurately describing events during quality-related investigations, aiding the Supervisor to understand the root cause where required.
  18. Willingly assisting Supervisor to eradicate identified potential areas of non-conformance.
  19. Responding to identified process improvements and implementing them willingly.
  20. Reporting discrepancies in job route times as soon as they are identified.
  21. Communicating them to the Supervisor and implementing changes when requested.
  22. Striving to assist with maintaining all relevant KPIs in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Engagement while identifying areas for improvement.
  23. Acting on all tasks assigned to maintain high levels of target achievement as designated by Supervisor.
  24. Taking part and contributing in toolbox talks.
  25. Demonstrating awareness of and promoting company objectives, policies, and procedures.
  26. Ensuring that all procedures/paperwork are completed, kept up to date, and signed off by the relevant person.
  27. Ensuring all company policies surrounding health & safety, quality requirements, and housekeeping are met.
  28. Adhering to inspection criteria, policies, and procedures without exception.
  29. Traveling as and when required.
  30. Carrying out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.

Experience/Education/Skill-Set Required:

Essential:
  • Experience minimum of 4 years' experience in mechanical work.
  • Working knowledge within an assembly & manufacturing environment, including the preparation of components.
  • Working knowledge (1 year +) within a mechanical repair environment.
  • Computer literacy (including a good command of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Degree in mechanical engineering - Preferred.
