PDS Defense, Inc is seeking a Software Quality Engineer 3, in Buffalo, NY. Seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer join our Quality Assurance team of qualified, diverse individuals located at our Buffalo, NY campus Telecommuting/remote work is not an option for this position This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80, to allow employees every other Friday off Future business needs may require a more traditional 5/40 work schedule to provide availability for demand. Job Responsibilities: Develop, modify, apply, and maintain standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures.Ensure that project and process control documentation are compliant with standards, objectives, and/or contract requirements via inspection, reviews, and audits.Develop overall operating measures and criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to standards, objectives, and/or contract requirements.Ensure measures meet acceptable performance standards/targets/goals.Contribute to software development and maintenance processes and methods utilized by Software Engineering, ensuring compliance with requirements, objectives and/or contract requirements.Review software engineering work products (e.g., design, change specifications, and plans) against contractual and/or process requirements.Perform or direct verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another STEM degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of software experience or 3 years with a Master's degree or 0 years with a PhD in one of the above disciplines.Understanding of software engineering principles, practices, and theories.Experience in operating in a Quality Management System (QMS).Strong analytical skill with an understanding of basic problem solving.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Dedicated to teamwork and able to work well in a team environment.Works well under pressure and adapt well to unplanned tasks Proficiency in MS Office Applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint.US Citizenship required. Preferred Skills: Experience coding in Ada, C, C , and/or Python.Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools such as DOORs, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket.Experience with ISO and AS9100 standards requirements.Knowledge and/or experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action tools.Ability and willingness to continuously learn and implement new processes.Knowledge of waterfall and/or Agile life-cycles.
