About you: You are a qualified Midwife confident to lead with integrity at an advanced level of clinical evidence-based, midwifery-led, skill and knowledge in midwifery practices evidenced by feedback, recent practice, and professional development. You can provide advanced leadership in clinical decision-making to deliver and/or coordinate pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal care and demonstrate broad knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the National Competency Standards for Midwives expressing key actions midwives undertake to achieve and sustain these care standards. Your opportunity: The Clinical Midwife provides an early leadership role within the career pathway for nursing within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and is responsible for a specific patient population and operates in more complex situations while providing support and direction to the Registered Midwife (RM) and other non-registered midwifery/nursing personnel. The Clinical Midwife (Core) will provide woman-centred care collaboratively as a key member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and optimal midwifery care in accordance with the National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral. As a Clinical Midwife (Core) you will be responsible for inpatient care for antenatal and postnatal women and neonates including birth suite backup and support. You will work collaboratively, to coordinate and provide care, with the MGP caseload midwives who are the lead maternity providers for consumers across the Cassowary Coast Hub. Your role:- Promote cooperation, teamwork, and understanding in undertaking generalist and/or specialist midwifery practices for effective health outcomes.
- Practice collaboratively and provide clinical leadership within the interdisciplinary health care team to promote the safety, security and personal integrity of women and their families.
- Provide clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education, and research in conjunction with the Maternity Unit Manager and Associate Maternity Unit Manager.
- Accountable for planning, provision, and communication of midwifery care provided across a shift.
- Maintain productive multi-disciplinary working relationships, effectively dealing with challenging behaviours and the resolution of conflicts.
