For more information, follow Telesat on X and LinkedIn or visit www.telesat.com The Senior, RF Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat Leo system with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab. Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO systemDevelop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirementsCoordinate and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reportingServe as an RF expert and support other technical staff as required Plays an active role in component and subsystem design and test activitiesEnsure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirementsKeep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessaryWork with partners and other vendors in various test campaignsEducation and Experience RequiredB. Sc. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in satellite communicationsMinimum 10 years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in RF testing in Ka bandsHands on experience using RF test equipment ( Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator,)Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design PracticesDemonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performanceExperience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performanceExperience in test case and defect tracking tools( Jira, Jama )Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliersPreferred QualificationsExperience with various traffic generators like Ixia, SpirentExperience in MEF standardsProficient with MATLAB, python.Experience with BUC/LNB and various Antenna technologiesExcellent oral and written communication skills At Telesat, we take pride in being an equal opportunity employer that values equality in the workplace.
