Job Overview
Jensen Hughes is seeking a full-time Transportation Consultant, who is based in one of our offices within Canada. Remote working can be considered as dictated by personal circumstances. The Consultant will focus on pedestrian planning and modelling and work with a multi-disciplinary team to consult with clients on upgrading existing transportation infrastructure and delivering future demand in major rapid rail transit projects.
Only candidates based in Canada will be considered.
Responsibilities
Design and lead pedestrian modelling approaches primarily for rapid rail transit projects
Provide pedestrian flow analysis using a wide variety of evaluation techniques from business case study, design feasibility study and detailed design stages of projects
Lead the preparation and writing of technical reports detailing modelling approach, calibration and results
Present modelling approaches and results to clients, the public and other technical and non-technical audiences
Undertake various project management duties such as managing projects, client engagement, work planning, budget monitoring, and project reporting
Participate with other Jensen Hughes staff in business development, as well as the promotion of advancing market growth opportunities
Participate in training and working on a wide variety of fire protection engineering design and consulting projects
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Engineering (or other related engineering discipline), Planning, Economics, Geography or similar
5 - 10 years of previous experience that includes extensive experience in leading pedestrian modelling projects and initiatives
Skilled in applying the Fruin's Level of Service concept, general pedestrian flow and dynamic people movement/behavior
Proficiency in one or more pedestrian modelling tools including MassMotion, Legion Space Works, Viswalk or others
Experience in using Auto CAD software for model layout preparation
Excellent presentation, communication and technical writing skills
An entrepreneurial spirit and inclination toward developing transportation modelling-based opportunities for the business
Willingness to learn fire protection discipline from experts on the team
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Professional Engineer and/or Registered Professional Planner is an asset
