About This Job:
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company specializing in Engineering, Equipment Supply, Installation, and Service to the Steel Industry, is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. With a diverse and experienced team of design engineers, our client delivers tailored solutions to address specific challenges within the industry. Key Responsibilities:
Perform detailed design calculations and mechanical equipment analysis for applications in the Steel Industry.
Develop technical specifications and project documentation.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs.
Provide leadership and direction to a small team of mechanical designers and draftspersons as needed.
Generate proposals, feasibility studies, and comprehensive reports.
Translate initial concepts into finalized designs, including preparation of detail drawings and assemblies.
Investigate and address field issues, preparing comprehensive reports as necessary.
Offer on-site technical support during machinery installations and provide assistance to the sales team during customer visits.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to colleagues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc. or B.Eng.). P.Eng. registration in Ontario is preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on Steel Mill, Steel Coil Processing equipment, and/or heavy industrial machinery design (e.g., mining).
Proficiency in 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks.
Strong computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office, FEA Analysis, Math CAD, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Valid passport and willingness to travel occasionally within Canada and to the U.S.A.
