Join us as a Hoisting Mechanical Field Service Engineer for the Process Automation Business area where you will be ensuring the service portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers. Execute technical support, act as specialist, and solve problems in own expertise area.

This position reports to the Service Manager and this position can be based in either Fortitude Valley, Moorebank, Notting Hill, Australia.

Your responsibilities

• Providing technical support and solving problems in own expertise area via remote or on-site service in any service category (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering and consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end of life services, replacements, etc.)
• Investigating customer needs through professional consulting. Providing technical consulting on service solutions to management and customers.
• Determining effective service applications, equipment, and methods to develop, market or manufacture new service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost effectively
• Identifying new sales opportunities, proactively communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for Service growth
• Coordinating and performing specialist service projects in relevant areas internally and externally (e.g. create milestones, project plan, cost supervision, action steps, project reviews, project supervision) including all commercials
• Reporting work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed
• Providing technical specialist leadership and coordination for the service team
• Working with account teams to identify opportunities in the installed base and reducing the cost and improving the quality of delivery of service and projects

Your background

• Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent or undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited Australian university or equivalent qualification from a Washington Accord signatory country will be advantageous
• At least 2 years of practical, hands-on field experience with any of automation, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic valves & hydraulic equipment, preferably in the mining industry
• Reliability engineering coursework or equivalent on-the-job maintenance functional experience preferred
• Experience in working with hoisting equipment and general maintenance practices relating to hoisting equipment is an advantage.
• Understanding of Local Mining Regulations requirements and Australian Standards applicable to mining and mine hoist systems is an advantage
• Demonstrated capability to perform calculations of braking system/deceleration rates for mine hoisting systems
• Working with Excel spreadsheets to perform calculations, cross references, and lookups
• Ability to travel across Australia for site work
