Commissioning Engineer – Inspection Equipment – Job Description The Company UK Inspection Systems Ltd is an independent and employee-owned Company that has been delivering a comprehensive range of goods and services to major brands in the UK food industry for over fourteen years, with expertise that includes most makes of in-line inspection and weighing equipment. In 2018 we established ourselves as a manufacturer with our own Aegis, Fortis and Parvis machinery range, whilst continuing to deliver high quality service support for metal detection, X-ray and static/dynamic weighing systems supplied by other manufacturers. The Role We are seeking a hands-on Commissioning Engineer to join our expanding manufacturing and service delivery team in a hybrid factory/field role. Working from both our Rushden production facility and remotely at customer sites within the U.K., you would ideally be located in the Northamptonshire area. The role will support pre-delivery testing of a range of process inspection machinery solutions in readiness to carry out field based commissioning work, with occasional other PPM/maintenance and repair work tasks at customer sites around the UK, predominantly in the London, South and Midlands regions, but with the potential to travel further afield as required. The role may also involve providing support for other projects according to their requirements, when not carrying out core activities. The role has good potential for career development, up to a fully skilled project, design and support engineer. The successful candidate will be required to represent UK Inspection Systems in the best possible way, through building strong and trusting relationships with customers, delivering engineering excellence with timely, cost effective completion. All work will be completed to UKIS quality standards. Key Duties: · Factory Acceptance Testing and pre-delivery set-up to a range of in-line inspection machinery solutions. · On-site installation and commissioning of inspection machinery solutions. · PPM maintenance tasks on conveyor based production line inspection equipment (servicing rollers, bearings, transport belts, drive belts, motors etc.). · Factory or On-site electrical/mechanical/pneumatic fault finding, diagnostics and repairs. · Calibration and Validation testing and certification of in-line inspection equipment (including X-ray, metal detectors, check-weighers and weighing scales). · Projects of machine refurbishments and/or upgrades to existing equipment. · Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on a timely basis in accordance with the Company procedures. · Be prepared to adapt to all types of environments and comply with local H&S and hygiene rules. · Expected to co-operate and assist production team with machinery assembly, to include working overtime as and when required. · Actively support continuous improvement. · Adherence to ISO 9001 Quality Management System compliance. · Be prepared to learn a diverse set of products from differing brands and continually improve your product knowledge. Required Skills: · Experience in a Production Factory and/or Field Service Role (preferably the Food Industry) However, consideration may be given to a person already in a static engineering maintenance role, looking to move into field work. · Electro-mechanical skills together with functional electronic knowledge. · Methodical approach to problem solving. · Ability to work independently. · Full current, clean UK driving licence. · Attention to detail is essential. · IT literate, Windows, Excel & Word. · Experience of success in a similar role. · Experience of diagnosis and carrying out repairs. · Multi-disciplined approach to test control functions and commissioning with a good knowledge of power electronics, electronics, PLC's and HMI. · Well organized and able to communicate effectively with other staff and management. · Hands on' practical ability with good understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly. · Proven experience working with process equipment - e.g. conveyors, application devices, control units, etc. Desirable Skills: · PLC programming and knowledge of PC hardware/HMI an advantage · Experience of product inspection and/or conveyor systems · Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: range from £28,000.00-£33,000 per year DOE + Overtime available & performance bonus Benefits:

Education:
  • Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)
  • HNC/D or Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical (preferred)
  • Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (required)

  • Electrical engineering: 3 years (required)
  • Mechanical engineering: 3 years (required)
  • Customer service: 2 years (preferred)
  • Commissioning/Installation of capital equipment: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
  • Driving Licence, manual (required)
