*Job Summary:*
The Systems Effectors: Processing, Guidance & Control Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing; missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation; as well as flight test prediction and performance analysis for Raytheon's broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products. In the GNC department, we design, integrate, and optimize guidance, navigation, state estimation, and control algorithms to meet mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps. We support flight test preparations, execution, and evaluation.
The GNC Department is seeking a *Senior GNC Engineer* to perform in the role of *Flight Test Performance Analyst Lead. *
This position is located in our *Tucson, AZ* location. *This position is an onsite role.*
- Responsibilities to Anticipate: *
- As the* Flight Test Performance Analyst Lead* you will be responsible for interacting with Program SME’s to support flight test activities. These are generally broken into four specific aspects:
- Pre-flight predictions and range safety analysis: understanding the desired flight test objectives, ensuring the trajectory and engagement are achievable, and interacting with the wider flight test community to develop the range safety data package.
- HIL tape generation: creating scenario for lab environment, verify proper telemetry data output and provide to Corona for setup of parsing of telemetry stream during test event.
- Flight test support: supporting all meetings and developing artifacts during the flight test round integration and checkout, as well as being prepared to support the flight test itself including coordination of quick look analysis.
- Post-flight test analysis: the support and development of the 60-day flight test report, including deep-dive analysis of the flight test telemetry.
- You will lead multiple teams to generate data products in a timely and efficient manner.
- You will leverage your experience and provide guidance to Program personnel, many of whom have no flight test experience.
- You will help mentor and train new engineers and execute the test activities efficiently and effectively.
- You will support missile performance analysis including model development, launch platform updates, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.
- You will meet with and present the results from the simulation leading up to the flight test to the Customer and external flight test community. These are high visibility meetings requiring the engineer to display exceptional presentation skills and the ability to properly represent RTX.
- Basic Qualifications:*
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of Guidance, Navigation and/or Controls related engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year prior experience working development or production activities within the NSMS portfolio
- Experience with simulation development and system performance
- Experience with Matlab, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security.
- Preferred Qualifications:*
- Experience with Unix and/or Linux operating systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience supporting activities leading to flight test such as IFS and CIL performance analysis, ensuring compliance to performance metrics prior to software release, etc.
- Experience supporting missile and captive flight tests, providing real-time and post-mission navigation system performance analysis.
- Ability to facilitate and coordinate activities across multiple facilities and locations.
- Results-oriented work ethic and able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
