You will be working as Senior Service Engineer and will be part of the Motion business area for the Service Division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to the Local Service Manager and will be responsible to execute medium to high complex service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co-operation with customer and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.

Your responsibilities

  • Performing medium to highly complex Service tasks like installation , commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits.
  • Operate independently, identifying technical problems and making analysis through remote or on-site activity. Operate in different
  • Service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, extensions, replacements, upgrades and retrofit, end of
  • life service etc.)
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction by executing Service work according to the customer order and expectation. Creating and
  • maintaining good relationships with customers and understanding their requirements, identifying new sales opportunities.
  • Coordinating, preparing and ensuring that all materials, parts and equipment is available and ensure the appropriate quality
  • for Service activities.
  • Preparing all documentation and reports to be signed by the customer representative, reporting work done in a timely manner
  • and following up when required and creating standards or job durations.
  • Proactively identifying potential equipment failures and potential corrective actions, troubleshooting complex equipment
  • failures and making recommendations to avoid repeat failures in the future.
  • Proactively identifying suggestions for product, quality and customer service improvement and discussing them with
  • management for changes.
  • Actively ensuring that the highest HSE practices are maintained, working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents.
  • Consistently applying functional processes considering links to other teams.

Your background

  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor Degree, in the electrical engineering field
  • 8-12 years plus technical experience in Field Service and workshop repairs, service & support and or project execution in
  • Industry.
  • Excellent Fundamental knowledge of Drives and Motors. Knowledge on ABB products/systems, service solutions in Drives and Motors.
  • Knowledge on health and safety operating procedures.
  • Customer focused attitude, able to communicate and coordinate effectively, able to be flexible and work in a team environment. Should think and act systemically
  • Uphold Brand reputation and ability to handle and resolve customer complaints.
  • Onsite/application problem solving abilities and solution approach mindset.
  • Preference will be given to EE candidates.
