Role description: We are looking to recruit a career minded Assistant Cost Consultant (Assistant Quantity Surveyor) to support the Property Sector team in our Dublin office. The team focuses mainly on a specific retail account however will assist across the property sector as necessary. Across the Irish property sector the candidate will be expected to assist in commercial development in the commercial office, hotels, student residential, build to rent and residential sectors. Working as part of an established team on a fast paced retail account, the candidate will obtain significant experience of retail fit out and will be able to face challenging client aspirations. Flexibility will be required as the role includes travel and working internationally and will be a client facing role. Role accountabilities:
- Work independently within established financial systems to monitor and review project costs and variances on primarily retail fit out projects, in order to control cost variables
- Deliver/assist to manage small to medium scale cost projects or significant components of cost management assignments, ensuring the delivery of the required scope of work within set deadlines
- Understand and comply with business risk and present any project concerns or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
- Provide advice to colleagues on principles of risk management, to ensure adherence to the organisation’s risk and compliance processes
- Analyse and review a range of data to collate trends and prepare documentation such as delivery plans, providing advice and making recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making
- Use own knowledge and experience to review and analyse existing cost and commercial management processes and policies, sharing knowledge and taking an active involvement in service improvement and innovation
- Interact with internal and external customers, applying technical knowledge to complete complex, professional level tasks in order to ensure projects/programmes can be delivered to meet customer expectations
- Provide specialist technical advice and guidance within area, supporting others with cost management queries and actively
- Preferably retail fit out experience.
- Experience in delivering analysis and insights.
- Experience in a range of sectors is preferred.
- Technical knowledge of specialised field, including construction processes and cost and commercial management.
- Demonstration of self-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties.
- Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion.
- A keen interest in and ability to recognise, react to and talk with authority on megatrends such as digitisation and sustainability.
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent.
