About the Role Join us as Legal Counsel! To provide support in overseeing and managing the legal matters of AIA Singapore and its subsidiaries, to ensure robust risk management. Primary focus on providing legal support and advice on actual and potential contentious matters and litigation. Responsibilities:

  • To manage and provide Singapore law advice / support on actual and potential contentious matters involving AIA Singapore and its subsidiaries. This includes coordinating with external counsel and internal parties; and reporting to AIA Singapore senior management and AIA Group Legal. [55%]
  • To provide Singapore law advice on business and operational activities primarily in the areas of insurance claims, regulatory compliance, and data protection. This includes reviewing relevant documents and agreements; and internal reports, standards, policies, and procedures. [30%]
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties assigned from time to time, to meet business needs. [15%]
Requirements:
  • A law degree from a recognized university; admitted to the Singapore Bar, and of good standing.
  • At least 5 years PQE, of which at least 3 were spent in practice at a law firm.
  • Experience in insurance litigation/disputes preferred; else experience in general commercial / corporate litigation essential. Additionally, in-house experience at a regulated financial institution in Singapore ideal but optional.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills - willingness and ability to quickly pinpoint issues, follow up systematically and work with stakeholders to resolve.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with people across different levels of seniority as well as external parties.
  • Able to work well under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A quick learner with a can-do, positive mentality and resilient.
  • Humble, resourceful, adaptable and meticulous.
