There is a Dangerous Goods Coordinator position available in DHL Supply Chain, and it’s the ideal opportunity for someone with a H&S background to further their career and gain great experience. The purpose of this role is to support the Senior HSE and BCM Advisor, in fostering a positive H&S culture, and improving safety performance across all our sites.  We want all our employees to think and put safety first. IN THIS JOB YOU WILL BE:

  • Providing Health and Safety advice to HSE Team and management, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations. Demonstrate subject matter depth and breadth in the safe practices for physical management of dangerous and hazardous materials.
  • Coordinating external expert consultant engagement for compliance advice and regulatory approval and sign-off when such approval is required.
  • Coordinating documentation and overall safety regarding dangerous goods consignments as per DHL policies, Land Transport Rule for Dangerous Goods, current International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) regulations to ensure site compliance and alignment on LCC requirements and attending site LCC audits
  • Addressing Discrepancies relating to DG Documentation and SDS’s
  • Validating SDS documents and work with our customers/operations in making sure these are up to date and compliant to NZ standards by utilizing InfoSafe Portal
  • Maintaining Compliance of our DG Labelling Available in Catalogue – Validate against NZTA requirements and Approve Change where needed.
  • Working with our Consultants directly for seeking information and organizing audits as policies require.
  • To Review DG Inventory accuracy against SDS’s by utilizing Info Safe Portal and our consultancies where needed.
  • Working with our Operational Teams and Consultants to Organize Staff DG Handler Training and maintaining the Master training list in this regard.
YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Sound knowledge of relevant H&S legislation
  • 1-3 years of experience in an H&S background
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Hazardous Substance legislation and compliance
  • Ideally, a Tertiary qualification in H&S is preferred but not essential
  • Excellent organisational, relationship management, and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A mature approach, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Intermediate skills with the full range of Microsoft Office applications
  • Confident administration skills
