Position Summary

Air Products is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work in the Engineering Organization located in their office in Dhahran Techno Valley, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be required to have a good approach to health, safety and environment and can work across multi discipline teams as well as different cultures around the world. We are looking for a candidate with good communication skills in both verbal and written English and all-round flexibility to commit time and effort to achieve project requirements. The ability to travel when required, both to job sites and other engineering offices in the UK, US, India, and China on a planned basis. The successful candidate will be required to work under general supervision and be effective in promoting and supporting all aspects of the work done in the Department using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute elements of the electrical scope of work on a range of proposals or projects under the direction of a Lead or Senior Engineer.
  • Committed to execute projects on schedule and budget (hours/capital) to ensure project profitability is maintained.
  • Carry out site visits as required.
  • Prepares and reviews engineering studies, design drawings and documents, material, and equipment specifications.
  • Prepare, calculates, and organizes data for equipment specifications.
  • Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
  • Perform activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing is conform to functional specifications, recognized codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer.
  • A dedicated and driven approach & be committed to getting it right with a never-ending desire to learn, improve and contribute.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in electrical power engineering working in a design function within the process design industry.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical power engineering working in a design function within the process design industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of large motors (induction and synchronous) in the range of 1-10MW; experience with larger motors (10MW up) will be a plus.
  • Experience in specification and procurement of low, medium, and high voltage Switchgear, Power transformers and Power electronics (LCI’s, VSD’s and Thyristor Controllers).
  • An ability to work with software packages for analysis of power systems (e.g. SKM Power tools or ETAP).
  • Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods. design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Have knowledge in the use of industry wide design software packages.
