ROLE OBJECTIVE The Sr. R&D Product development Engineer is part of Product development team responsible to develop for new products for Rotary/resolver sensing. This position leads/support small and medium sized projects and develops product families. RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for design and development of new products based on customer requirement for Automotive application.Responsible for choosing standard parts, features, material as per internal guidelines which would meet the internal / customer target process and cost.Verify the design (plastic parts) which involves 3D modelling (Concepts/APM models), Proposal /detail drawings for costing / production, conducting basic simulation study.Responsible to conduct design reviews and design optimization.Responsible for final release of parts / drawings for ManufacturingWork closely with customer/sales/PM in getting the right and clear VOC (voice of customer), make engineering evaluation/proposal to customer. Maintain a System level understanding of customer application and the concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers' expectation. Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality and cost objectives.Successfully facilitate transfer and support of new product introduction (NPI) into high volume manufacturing.Design of jigs & fixtures for product testing whenever required. Drive VAVE, Reverse Engineering and facilitate benchmarking of competitor products.Support product environmental compliance and approvals for new productsCollaborate with CFT by providing technical support.Aiding project management responsibilities in absence of the team leader/ project manager.EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGEBachelor's / master's degree in engineering (Mechanical) Knowledge of state-of-the-art design tools such as Creo modelling, PDM Windchill, Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T), GPS, Tolerance stack-up and SimulationBasic knowledge in manufacturing process (machining, molding, stamping, plating, etc.)Basic knowledge in material (metal/plastic) propertiesCRITICAL EXPERIENCE8 - 12 years of experience in Design and Development of products, preferably in Sensors, Automotive backgroundGood Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical SkillsShould be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player.Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to learn new Technologies quickly.Demonstrated working Experience in a fast paced and changing environment with the ability to work to tight deadlines.Good knowledge on measurement instruments / methods / validationsGood Exposure to DFA & DFMEAGood at Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, motivational skills & Administrative Skills Experience in Independent Project Handling, New Challenges, Risk taking & Priority settingAssisting team on technical design, development standards, best practices, & development guidelinesGood at Root Cause Analysis & Problem-Solving abilitiesGood knowledge on Sensor fundamentals, sensor technology and their applications in an automotive industry preferred.Ability to provide technical support to customer, sales, PM, and Manufacturing team.Conduct necessary test, engineering analysis, trouble shooting and verification.Understanding of product testing & validation as per OEM's specifications.COMPETENCEFoundational:Experience in working in a diverse and inclusion environment.
