Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYAs a key member of our New Product Development Department, you will be part of a team responsible for the completion of engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation embracing the creative design and support of bus chassis structures. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings and bills of materialWHAT YOU WILL DO:Complete engineering design tasks and project assignments which support production activities.Create engineering designs that meet customer specifications, technical summaries, other contract documents, and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities from concept through testing and into production.Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and regulations.Complete controlled testing of components and installations to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures.Provide engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support and other departments to implement designs into production and beyond into service.Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues. Check engineering documents, instructions to service, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent engineering disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is not required but preferred.Five or more years of experience in structural applications and/or mechanical design-based knowledge related to essential functions listed aboveExperience specifying and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is requiredExperience with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is requiredProficiency in Unigraphics or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software Experience in complex product development from concept through prototyping and testing into productionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with welding and casting is an asset but experience specifying welds is requiredWorking knowledge of data acquisition, structural durability and fatigue testing is highly preferredMotivated self-starter with high level of initiative, and ability to multitask and work efficiently in a highly demanding fast paced and team-oriented work environment *Travel is required for this position*WHY JOIN OUR TEAM:Competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.    A continuous learning environment.    Ability to advance your career with a growing company.     NFI Group has been named a Manitoba Top Employer for 2020 and this is the tenth since the competition was established in 2007.    Employee social committee organizes numerous events throughout the year, including summer barbecues, holiday festivities, sporting events and tournaments, and much more.    Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.OUR WHY: We exist to move people.
