This is a great opportunity for an individual who takes a balanced approach to leading their team and being able to find the equilibrium between being hands-on and in the trenches with the team and delegating and managing the team to maximize efficiency.This is a senior leadership position reporting to the Managing Partner that requires considerable financial expertise. This position will play a critical role in establishing policies, procedures, and controls around a core group of businesses and assets that is poised for growth. With operations in both Canada and the US, our client operates businesses and assets in a variety of industries, including the real estate, financial services, industrial, and grocery industries. This position will be based at our brand new offices located in South Vancouver (moving in mid-2024) requiring some travel to our other offices, operations, and assets located in the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky corridor, and the US.Role And ResponsibilitiesManage the Company's full spectrum accounting process including month-end, quarterly and year-end processes, including the coordination of all reporting needs for external accounting and tax professionals.Supervise and review the work of the accounting team including cash reconciliations, cheque runs, AP/AR transactions and payroll.Manages the company's overall financial wellness through effective budgeting, expense control, cash management, cash flow forecasting and regular reporting to ownership.Participate in annual budget preparation and regular forecasting activities.Provide in depth financial analysis requiring often complex spreadsheet design.Coordinate and review all tax filings for entities.Builds and maintains positive vendor and partnership relationships.Evaluates staff performance and provides appropriate feedback.Create and/or update financial policies, procedures, and processes.Establish and continually audit all financial controls including purchasing, cash, inventories, and payroll.Ensure all civic, provincial, federal and financial regulatory reporting deadlines are met.Primary point of contact for day-to-day banking relationships.Complete all credit applications and provide monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports to banking partnersParticipate in analysis, assessment, underwriting and diligence related to investment opportunities and targeted acquisitions.Other duties as assigned.Job SpecificationsMinimum 5 years' previous experience working in leadership role for a medium to large organization with multiple locations/businesses/asset classes. Successful completion of post-secondary financial related program, bachelors degree or higher.CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) Designation required.Strong tax knowledge.Previous experience with ERP system and experience managing a small team.Leads by example.Inspires, leads and motivates others to high performance, using outstanding interpersonal communication skills.Embraces new and innovative ideas and able to think outside the box.Demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment.Prioritizes and delegates tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.Shows strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Is proficient in using MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and other payroll/ERP software.Places a high degree of value on self-development and is not afraid to learn new skills.Currently eligible to work in Canada.
