Legal Counsel – Crypto startup Remote (UK) £100k / 110k + options Talentedge have been exclusively engaged by an exceptionally high growth crypto startup as they move out of stealth mode on their first in-house Legal Counsel opportunity. Following significant investment from Tier 1 sector-specific VCs and HNWI’s, the business is really ramping up their staff across all commercial, operational and technology functions. Working closely with an ambitious yet experienced COO, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members from around the globe. Key responsibilities to include:
- Drafting and negotiating contracts with clients, suppliers, and other parties involved in trading and other transactions
- Conducting legal research on various issues related to trading laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Advising company executives and employees on legal matters, including risk management and compliance with trading regulations
- Reviewing and analysing proposed business deals and transactions to identify legal risks and potential liabilities
- Participating in meetings and negotiations with external parties, such as regulators, counterparties, and legal representatives
- Drafting legal documents, such as memoranda, opinions, and correspondence, to support the company's legal position
- Managing, correctly choosing and overseeing outside counsel engaged to assist with specialised legal matters or litigation. This includes negotiating external legal counsel costs
- Providing training to employees on legal and compliance issues relevant to their roles in the company
- Assisting with the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the trading industry and advising the company on any necessary adjustments to its practices or policies.
- Relevant legal experience as an in-house lawyer for a Crypto / FinTech startup / scaleup
- Knowledge of UAE legal system is advantageous
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple matters and conflicting priorities, while effectively balancing business and legal concerns
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills as well as document and policy drafting experience
- High level of independence and accountability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a remote environment
