Key Duties The post holder will work asa Senior Consultant and additionally, will be act as Director ofHLA & the Immunology Laboratory. The SeniorConsultant/Director is the most senior doctor, who practices in aspecific speciality and has oversight responsibility for his teamof consultants and junior doctors and manages other team members.The Senior Consultant is responsible for the care of all patientsadmitted under his/her name and for all the clinical decisions madeby other doctors under his supervision. The post holder must alsohave the ability to relate well to others and use interpersonalskills to achieve desired objectives, recognising the need torepresent both the clinical work and the team in addition toproviding high quality patient care (diagnose, treat, manage andadmit patients under his/her name). Other responsibilities includeservice development, funding, budgets, staffing, and the teachingand training of junior doctors. In essence, the Senior Consultantis required to have professional clinical competence, leadershipand management skills. Research is a key and integral component toour client's strategic aim to become an Academic HealthSystem.
