VICE PRESIDENT HUMAN RESOURCES & CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Location: Flin Flon, The Pas, or Thompson, MB (Position can be based at any of the three sites)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice-President Human Resources & Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), as a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), oversees the following areas:
Recruitment and Retention
Representative Workforce Strategy
Labour/Employee Relations
Compensation and Benefits
Organization & Staff Development/Leadership Development
Employee Wellness/Staff Health
Occupational Health & Safety
Staff Scheduling
In the role of CHRO, oversees all Human Resource (HR) functions to ensure a positive labour/employee relationship. This position requires provision of extensive service and travel to outlying communities and within the province year-round. The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region (NHR) policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Baccalaureate or Graduate Degree in Human Resource Management (other combinations of education and experience may be considered)
Membership in the Canadian Association of Healthcare Human Resources Management (CAHHRM)
Valid Manitoba Class V driver's license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel the Region and Province year round
Five (5) years' experience in a Senior Human Resource Advisor capacity within a unionized environment preferably in a healthcare setting
Five (5) years' supervisory/management experience in a senior level role
Thorough knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat and Internet
Experience with strategic and operational planning
Knowledge and familiarity with Northern health issues, culture, and population to be served
Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant labour legislation
Extensive experience in interpretation, application, and administration of collective agreements
Experience in the collective bargaining process and ability to serve as the Chief Negotiator
